     Minor Surgery Female:Laporoscopy
This is an inspection of the pelvic cavity-the uterus, the tubes and the ovaries by a telescope the 'laparoscope'. This is passed through a small incision just below the navel.A laparoscopy takes about fifteen minutes to carry out. The operation in itself is not usually painful but soreness is experienced around the incisions. Some patients complain of pain in their shoulders! This is due to air that was passed into the abdomen in order top gain a good view of the pelvic area, this air can irritate the nerves which travel from the abdomen to the shoulder.
Reasons for having a laparoscopy can be:
1.Laparoscopy and Dye Test done for infertility purposes. A dye is passed through the cervix and uterus and so through the fallopian tubes to assess any damage to the tubes.

2.Sterilisation Clips are put on both tubes via the laparoscope to prevent the egg and the sperm meeting in the tube and so preventing pregnancy.
3.Diagnostic.By looking through the laparoscope the diagnosis of many pelvic problems or causes of pain may be made.
